CasteThis variety is widespread in different parts of the peninsular and is distinguished by its coloured flesh and colouring capacity. A highly fertile, climbing variety with medium vigour and high levels of production. Its growing cycle is long with an early budburst and late ripening, requiring climates with plentiful hours of sun. Is highly sensitive to mildew, excoriosis and wind, moderately sensitive to botrytis, and fairly resistant to oidium and drought.

UvaThe grapes are uniform, spherical, and blue/red/black in colour; medium blossom, barely visible navel, easily separated pedicel and the presence of a ring. Cross-section of the grape, circular; strongly coloured, substantial, soft flesh with no particular flavour.

ViñoThe wines it produces have a significant colour load and an important plant expression when the necessary maturation is not reached. It retains acidity well, and provides good fruity and floral aromas. It is usually blended with other varieties to provide colour and acidity.
